Local Communications Commitment

Between Spring 2014 and Summer 2019, we carried out four years of community consultation to inform the proposals for the Canada Water Masterplan. We held over 120 public consultation and local outreach events, with a total attendance of over 11,000, people. We would like to thank everybody who has contributed their valuable time and ideas to the discussions so far.

In May 2018 we submitted a planning application for the Canada Water Masterplan. We also submitted amendments in October 2018, March 2019 and June 2019.

You can find out more about the planning application here and about the background to the project here.

In June 2019, Southwark Council undertook a statutory consultation on the amendments made to the planning application which has now ended. You can still make a comment on the planning application on Southwark Council’s Planning Register by clicking on ‘NEW online planning register’ and searching for ‘Canada Water Masterplan’ or by entering the case reference number ‘18/AP/1604’.

Planning application documents can also be viewed upon request at Canada Water Library.

Here’s how you can submit your comments:

Online: Directly on the Canada Water Masterplan planning application.

By Email: Via the form on Southwark Council’s website.

By Post: Send your comments by post to 5th Floor Hub 2, Southwark Council, PO Box 64529, London, SE1P 5LX.

Information regarding the planning application documents and how to make formal comments to Southwark Council can be found here.

As the project progresses, and should planning permission be consented, there will be other forms of communication and discussion. There will be engagement on the detailed designs of future buildings as they come forward, and we will continue to work with the local community to discuss key themes, community involvement and more. Further details of planned ongoing engagement will be available on our website and through future project updates.

During the planning determination period British Land continues to meet with statutory bodies including Southwark Council, the Greater London Authority and Transport for London during the determination period to discuss key areas of the Masterplan and we will provide updates on these.

Please do get in touch with the team if you have any questions about the plans or would like to discuss anything in further detail.
